A monthly promenade of art and entertainment with the Castle and Cathedral Creative District, featuring Cathedral Arts Project, Joslyn Castle, and Cali Commons. This month includes a Scavenger Hunt for detectives of all ages, as well as CAP’s yearly Invitational Art Show, a talk on The Art of Collecting, the Upcycle Art Show and an artist talk by Josephine Langbehn and local historian Monica Gomez.

August 20  — Artist Invitational Opening & Exhibition (thru October 04)

Omaha’s premier annual showcase for Midlands artists, with over 60 new works representing a wide variety of styles, media, and price points. We are proud to welcome both experienced art collectors and those who have never attended a formal gallery show. August 20  — Brother Woeger Lecture Series
Bob Weil, Guest Lecturer – Art of Collecting 

For those who have never collected art or ephemera systematically and for those with substantial collections, this talk will help you focus your interests, hone your strategies, understand ways to buy and display, and set and stay within a budget. From fine art to novelty items, you will come away with concrete steps to create collections reflecting your excellent taste and abiding obsessions!

September 12 — Thomas Rogers Kimball Lecture Series
Nick Manhart, Guest Lecturer – History of the Omaha Central Library

Join archivist Nick Manhart for a compelling look at the evolution of Omaha's main library. From its humble beginning during the winter of 1856 through the April 2026 dedication of its most recent iteration, the Omaha community has benefited from expert library services for 170 years! This annual lecture commemorates the legacy of Saint Cecilia Cathedral architect Thomas Rogers Kimball, who was commissioned to design the first permanent central library building in 1894—which still stands today!

A monthly promenade of art and entertainment with the Castle and Cathedral Creative District, featuring Cathedral Arts Project, Joslyn Castle, and Cali Commons. For September, we focus on all things vintage—from ‘olden times’ and ‘back in the day.’ Plan to be entertained, to remember the past, and see carefully preserved works still relevant to our world today. CAP will feature vintage items for sale as well as curated works from local artists in our annual Invitational – where there’s always something to surely catch your eye.

Telagio Baptista, Artist Instructor

Join internationally award-winning watercolorist Telagio Baptista for a welcoming, all-levels painting workshop. The class includes live demonstrations, layering practice with natural elements, and personalized one-on-one support.

You have been to Christmas Markets before, but none as imaginatively and discerningly gathered together as our annual display of Christmas gifts, decorations, and artworks. For friends, family, and even yourself, you will find perennial holiday favorites, imaginative new pieces, and vintage items to put you in the holiday spirit and fill Santa’s sleigh.

Flower Festival Month

If it’s January in the Metro, it means the Cathedral Arts Project’s multi-day Flower Festival, our largest event of the year. Come and view stunningly imaginative new flower creations, this year all centered around the theme “On the Fifth Day,” and enjoy continuous live music and lunch selections by the Lithuanian Bakery. Plan to be enthralled by the transformation of the ‘bleak mid-winter’ and of Omaha’s extraordinary cathedral into a bower of delights!

Dr. Wolfgang Reisinger, Organis

Our annual celebration of the great master Johann Sebastian Bach brings to Omaha for the first time Viennese organist Dr. Wolfgang Reisinger. A longtime university and cathedral musician, Dr. Reisinger plays a virtuoso program specially tailored to the cathedral’s Martin Pasi organ, the most significant instrument of its type in the Midwest. Come and hear how a great Austrian musician brings to life an organ built by a great German-American organ builder.

As one of our banner events of the year, CAP is proud to present Britain’s most famous early music vocal ensemble here in Omaha for the first time in over two decades. CAP/Omaha Conservatory Collaboration
Every year, the Omaha Conservatory of Music and selected other organizations combine with CAP to bring the area’s best high-school musicians to the acoustically glorious Saint Cecilia Cathedral. This spring’s performance will include a number of young vocalists presenting a wide range of solo and chamber music, sure to leave you charmed, impressed, and humming a tune of your own!
